Spring Break Rejuvenation

During spring break I went to Longboat Key, Florida! It was a much-needed reset and motivation builder to finish the semester strong. Second semester has drained me both physically and mentally so far. I made it a priority to finish all my homework before break, so I didn’t have to bring my computer. This alone gave me the chance to fully relax.

As soon as practice finished on Friday, my boyfriend and I made the drive to Columbus. Our flight was at 5:20 a.m. on Saturday morning. We got up at 2:30 a.m. to be ready for the Uber to take us to the airport. I got a total of 2 hours of sleep. At that point I was running on pure adrenaline! I had never flown Southwest before, so here’s to another first! The flight to Sarasota, Florida was short and easy. Once we got off the plane, his parents were there to pick us up. We drove 30 minutes to the house his grandma rents in Longboat Key.

Each day was full of new adventures that I was excited about! Some days were spent at the beach while others were spent exploring the area and surrounding islands. One of the nights of vacation we watched the sunset and were able to see dolphins. This made my heart happy because I found so much joy watching them! On another day we saw wild peacocks which were beautiful! We were afraid that the previous hurricane had wiped them out but were surprised when we saw them. I was so intrigued by them that when my boyfriend and I had our date night, I made him walk to the neighborhood with me to find more. He wasn’t in walking shoes, so he was a real trooper. We ended up finding a peacock on the roof of someone’s house!

The weather was very warm which made me want to be out in the sun. Any chance I got, I walked down to the beach to soak up the sun! The only downfall of the vacation was getting sick. Right before vacation started, I noticed I didn’t feel well and pushed it aside. It only got worse from there. I was losing sleep because I was up during the night feeling sick. I didn’t have many options for medicine because of being away from home. As soon as I got home a week later, I went straight to urgent care. While I may have been sick, there’s no other place I’d rather be than Florida! I didn’t let that stop me from enjoying vacation to the fullest. It’s safe to say that my spring break was just the rejuvenation I needed!

  3. Hi Danika! That is so nice you got to have a good reset trip before the rest of the semester. I am sorry to hear you got sick but it was probably a little bit better to deal with it in warmer weather rather than cold Ohio. I love the Florida Keys and the water is so pretty! It is great to hear you had a good spring break. Have a great rest of your week!
