The Art of Podcasting
If you need a sign to start podcasting, here it is! Whether it's for personal use or to educate the public, they can be as simple as you make it! Podcasts are digital audio programs that are uploaded to the internet for subscribers to listen to whenever they want! The beauty of podcasts stems from their flexibility. Listeners can stream and download content from any mobile device or platform at their convenience.
Podcasting brings in 504.9 million
listeners worldwide. Surprisingly, there’s one more popular day of the week for
podcasting which is Wednesday! There are many formats of podcasts that include solo
commentary, Q&A, storytelling, etc. What’s beneficial is that there’s a
podcast style for everyone! Within the different formats, there are hundreds of
options to the podcast topics themselves whether it’s cooking, lifting or even
sports! It’s common for influencers to start their own podcasts. If you didn’t
know that, then search for your favorite influencer or celebrity and they might
just have a podcast.
For my principles of social media class, we had to create a
podcast on social media, interviewing a professional. I had chosen my track and
field coach who has run the social media for several years now and has prior experience.
It was beneficial for me to hear what he had to say and the knowledge he
brought. I learned a substantial amount about just how important the social
media page is to the Ohio Northern Track and Field Team. It helps keep people
connected to the program! Whether that is alumni, parents and even perspective athletes,
people can see the program and engage. As an athlete, if one of my friends or
myself is posted, I love engaging by reposting! It helps get people’s names out
there and display their achievement! The previous podcast I had done was solo,
so this was new to me! Since I had used the software before, that part was
quicker compared to my first go around and I picked up on a few more tricks. If
you want to hear the podcast, the link will be attached at the bottom of the
blog!
Overall, there are many benefits to creating podcasts that
make it easy for the writer to personalize. If you’ve been convinced to
start your own podcast, have fun!

Hi Danika! I completely agree with you that there are podcasts for everyone. I think that's why they have gotten so popular because everyone most likely has one they might be interested in or relate to. Your insight about your experience interviewing your track coach was interesting to read about and see how much the social media accounts and managing them well keeps people engaged with the team!
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you explained the flexibility of podcasts and included statistics to show how popular they have become. Your experience interviewing your coach was a great real-world example of how social media connects communities, especially in athletics. It also helped hearing how your confidence grew after already using the software once.
ReplyDeleteI agree that there is a podcast for everyone. Podcasts are one of those things that there will never be enough of. There is a podcast for just about every thought a person can have. I wonder how many hours of podcasts exist in total.
